20th Century Boys

So in my spare time I am a prettay hardcore manga enthusiast.  Earlier this morning, I finally finished the manga 20th Century Boys, written by none other than Naoki Urasawa.  This man is a GENIUS!!! I absolutely loved every second reading it.  The story follows a group of Japanese men who must fight to save the world.  It sounds corny but it is extremely deep.  It jumps around in time all the way back from 1970 to 2015 as it unravels the deep and mysterious life of the powerful, corrupt leader, “Friend.  I don’t want to give away any more as to ruin the story.

 I believe they just released a movie adaptation of it in Japan and I really want to see it.  So if anyone has a link or knows where I could get my hands on this film please let me know.

I 100% recommend this and it is by far the best manga I have yet to read.  Now I’m reading Monster, also by Naoki Urasawa and I have high hopes .

iPod Touch 2g!!

So in this last week I have found my new love: The iPod Touch 2g.  If you haven’t already heard about this little device, I highly suggest you check it out.  

First of all, $229 for the 8gb, $299 for the 16gb, and $399 for the 32gb.  This is an EXTREMELY good deal for what you get.  Personally, I got the 16gb just because I have a lot of music but I don’t have $399.  This is probably the best buy out of all 3 sizes.

Features include, of course, a music player (with built in genius playlist making which I LOVE); great quality video; a beautiful 3 1/2 inch display with an absolutely phenomonal touch screen (everything is so smooth and after about 2 days of using it, you’ll become a pro); Wifi internet connection and includes the Safari browser, which runs really fast and looks great; the new addition to itunes, the app store, which allows you to get apps either from itunes or straight on your ipod touch with wifi; and many other awesome gadgets.  Also this mofo is extremely thin.  I think about 8.4 mm which is amazing for how much power it has.

My only grievance with it is also one of the coolest parts about it: The app store.  While there are some very cool applications out there, I feel like apple should be looking at the 3rd party developers for better ideas.  You can’t expect much from the large selection of free applications (with the exception of a few great ones like facebook and Air Sharing), but even the ones that cost money aren’t that great.  But of course we have to remember the app store is still VERY young and I’m sure some great new additions will come along.  I’m not planning to jailbreak my iPod touch, mostly because I really don’t wanna end up crashing the whole thing and getting screwed over (jailbreak voids the warranty).  So I’ll just have to wait until apple adds some more awesome applications to their app store.
